Porcelain door knobs can look magnificent in the right setting; they are colourful and artistic and can really make a door shine. These aren`t as common in people for two reasons, firstly they tend to be a little more expensive than many of the other varieties on the market today, and secondly, they tend to break rather easily. Most people won`t mind spending a little extra cash on a door knob, but when they find out that these aren`t the most durable products they begin to look elsewhere.
Antique glass door knobs are becoming increasingly popular for the class and degree of sophistication they bring. Individuals are getting their doors customized in accordance with the type of antique glass door knobs. These glass knobs are very difficult to get and hence people who want to adorn their doors with these knobs are willing to shell out big money. Antique glass door knobs look grand on doors and create a magnificent effect at night with supplemented lighting above the door.
Interior door knobs are available in four primary styles; privacy, passage, double dummy and single dummy. Privacy and passage knobs turn and operate a latch mechanism - the difference is privacy style knobs have a push pin lock (these are generally used on bathrooms or bedrooms). Single dummy and double dummy knobs do not turn or operate a latch mechanism - a single dummy knob is one knob on the exterior side of the door while a double dummy is a knob on either side of one door. Note: Most double dummy knobs cannot be used on two separate doors.
